Nissan Rogue Wins Family Award from Cars.com
It’s official – the 2017 Nissan Rogue is an award winner. Cars.com has named this compact crossover SUV the top auto for the second year in a row. The prestigious award means much more for 2017 because this is the year Nissan introduced a fresh new design for their second-generation Rogue. Consider some reasons why Cars.com thinks the Rogue is the best of the best for 2017.
History of the Nissan Rogue
Nissan introduced their newest crossover vehicle at the North American International Auto Show in 2007. The designed won Consumer Digest’s 2010 Best Buy award and received a five-star rating from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for side-impact safety.
Since that initial offering, the Rogue has had a few upgrades. In 2013, the Japanese automaker released the second-generation Rogue to the public.
2017 Nissan Rogue
Marketed as a “family car” by Nissan, the Rogue is a real winner with consumers and Cars.com agrees. The automotive magazine has named the Rogue its “Family Car of the Year” for the second year in a row.
The family features recognized by the magazine include:
- 3-row/7-passenger seating
- Passenger and Cargo Flexibility
- Fresh Interior & Exterior Treatments
- Expanded Nissan Safety Shield Technology
Part of the family appeal for the Rogue is the exclusive EZ Flex Seating System and Divide-N-Hide Cargo feature. EZ Flex Seating features a reclining and split-folding 2nd-row seat for easy access to the 3rd row if you opt to include them. The Rogue is one of the few compact SUVs to offer a 3rd seat option. Divide-N-Hide provides up to 18 adjustable variations between the passenger and cargo areas.
This year’s Rogue brings with it some impressive safety features, as well. The new design comes with a forward emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure and blind spot warnings and optional adaptive cruise control.
Beyond Family Fun
Of course, there is more to love about Nissan’s Rogue then just the family-friendly features. The 2017 model offers a racier steering wheel and noteworthy stitching accents on the dashboard. The center control comes with a 5-inch display, Bluetooth phone and audio streaming. The USB port and backup camera are standard, as well.
Under the hood, you’ll find a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that pairs with a CVT – expect 170-hp from the Rogue with EPA mileage in the high 20s. This is the first year Nissan offers a hybrid version of the Rogue, too. The hybrid comes with a 2.0-liter gas engine and a lithium-ion battery electric motor. The combination provides you with 176-hp and 34 mpg. Both versions come in eight front or all-wheel drive.
On the outside, the Rogue offers a V-motion grille which is wider than the previous designs to reduce noise. The headlights are clearly defined and accented with LED arrows. This model has an optional motion-activated liftgate, as well.
